About Kristine Thornham

Kristine Thornham, MS,RD, CDE, CLT

About Kristine ThornhamAs a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, I firmly believe the food we eat not only shapes our physical health, but also greatly impacts our mental health. To me, food is meant to nourish our bodies and is critical to help us grow, support and heal. Its more than just something we eat. Food has tremendous wisdom and capacity to heal our bodies of aliments that are created by our habits and our environment.

Over the years, my professional journey has led me down many roads. My approach to well-being embraces both a Western and Eastern philosophy.Earlier this year, I decided to complete my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT200) to complete my multi-faceted style. I aim to meld the science of nutrition with a variety of ways to positively influence our behaviors so that we can live fully.

Because I am also a pragmatist, it is important that I provide you with specific tools and coaching necessary to achieve results. Why? So that you can live an energetic life without illnesses holding you back.

Here is some of the formal educational and experience background about myself. In 1996, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Colorado State University. In 2001, I completed a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Education at California State University, Chico. My experience as a Dietetic Intern was through Tri County Health Department and from there I passed a National Exam to become a Registered Dietitian.

Currently, I have over 17 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) working in a variety of settings including University of Colorado Hospital in-patient and outpatient services at Kaiser Permanente. For several years, I held a position as an adjunct faculty member and online instructor for Arapahoe Community College and Colorado Mountain College. In this role, I was responsible for developing course content and presenting nutrition courses to nursing students. From this journey, I developed experiences as a lecturer, presenting educational programs in a variety of medical and corporate settings.

My specialty areas within my practice include diabetes and diabetes prevention, lipid management, eating disorders and weight loss. Current professional associations include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Colorado Dietetic Association and Nutrition Entrepreneurs Practice Group.
